`CUSTODI` by FABIANA MARIA D`AMICO

Fabiana D`Amico was born and raised in Bordighera, Italy. In the 1990`s, in Milan, she discovered the art of ceramics; this passion led her to pursue further studies at the ceramic art school in the City of Deruta.

A citizen of the world, she embarked on a series of journeys with stops in India, Israel and Ecuador where she attended the workshops of local artists.

Fabiana Maria D`amico is fascinated and inspired by the cults of ancient populations around the world, especially by the representation of women pictured in ancient archaic mythologies. Deep and spiritual, her creations synthesize a search for harmony in its purest state, both in form and in matter.

The `custodi `(guardians), exhibited at DAC are honouring feminine energy per se; feminine energy as a primordial force of creation, intuition and acceptance; `the custodi` – as guardians as well as warriors – mean to protect nature, what is origin, womb and nurturer by ways of cultivating harmony, evoking ancestral forms, forms of heaven and earth.

These carefully crafted objects (statuettes, totems and other forms, often recalling amorphic shapes), are welcoming, in vision and in silence, that which resonates profoundly and essential – they protect and watch over with love and dedication, they offer nourishment and care as well as stir emotions. These objects create connections beyond their mere appearance.

The `Custodi` can be understood as guides or protectors of symbols that speak to the depth of our psyche, embracing and preserving life in its plethora of forms.

Fabiana D’Amico è nata e cresciuta a Bordighera, in Italia. Negli anni ’90, a Milano, scopre l’arte della ceramica; questa passione la porta a proseguire gli studi presso la scuola d’arte ceramica di Deruta.
Cittadina del mondo, intraprende una serie di viaggi con tappe in India, Israele ed Ecuador, dove frequenta i laboratori di artisti locali.
Fabiana Maria D’Amico è affascinata e ispirata dai culti delle popolazioni antiche di tutto il mondo, in particolare dalla rappresentazione della donna nelle antiche mitologie arcaiche. Profonde e spirituali, le sue creazioni sintetizzano la ricerca dell’armonia allo stato puro, sia nella forma che nella materia.

Le `custodi’ esposti al DAC rendono omaggio all’energia femminile in sé; energia femminile come forza primordiale di creazione, intuizione e accettazione; le `custodi` – guerriere – intendono proteggere la natura, che è origine, grembo e nutrice, coltivando l’armonia ed evocando forme ancestrali, forme del cielo e della terra.

Questi oggetti accuratamente realizzati (statuette, totem e altre forme, spesso evocative di forme amorfe) accolgono, nella visione e nel silenzio, ciò che risuona profondamente ed essenziale: proteggono e vegliano con amore e dedizione, offrono nutrimento e cura e suscitano emozioni. Questi oggetti creano connessioni che vanno oltre la loro mera apparenza.

Le `Custodi ‘possono essere intesi come guide o protettori di simboli che parlano alle profondità della nostra psiche, abbracciando e preservando la vita nella sua molteplicità di forme.

Fabiana D`Amico est née et a grandi à Bordighera, en Italie. Dans les années 1990, à Milan, elle découvre l`art de la céramique ; cette passion la conduit à poursuivre ses études à l`école d`art céramique de la ville de Deruta.
Citoyenne du monde, elle entreprend une série de voyages avec des escales en Inde, en Israël et en Équateur, où elle fréquente les ateliers d`artistes locaux.

Fabiana Maria D`Amico est fascinée et inspirée par les cultes des peuples anciens du monde entier, en particulier par la représentation des femmes dans les mythologies archaïques. Profondes et spirituelles, ses créations synthétisent une recherche d`harmonie à l`état pur, tant dans la forme que dans la matière.
